A great experience working with Naomi! Naomi Barton narrated the audio for my first ever audiobook Holding The Horse, a Historical Junior Fiction story set in New Zealand in the 1940s. She did a marvellous job and I shall certainly ask her to do the sequel for me! Naomi’s talent with voice and accents was immediately evident. The book has a young male protagonist and a wide range of characters of different ages and backgrounds. Naomi made the characters come alive. She represented each in a believable way; they were interesting and compelling. She also caught the emotion of each scene – I was moved as I listened and heard my story come to life. Naomi has a wonderful skill, and is lovely to work with. She is very professional, supportive and encouraging. Her system for listening and finding pickups is easy to navigate. I highly recommend Naomi to anyone embarking on an Audiobook

Oh, how wonderful it was to discover Naomi Barton, right here in Aotearoa New Zealand, a narrator whose gentle, expressive voice went straight to my heart. I gave her one of the most difficult dramatic chapters in the book to narrate for her sample, and listening to it had both me and my husband in tears… Our getting-to-know-each-other zoom call following this was like finding a friend who understood my characters and turned them into people even more real to me. Her masterly accents (primarily NZ, Australian, Scottish and British, and a minor American character) were perfect. But more than this, she got the subtle (and not so subtle) nuances of accent for the different Australian characters. One of the pleasures of working closely with Naomi, as I listened to each chapter for pick-ups where I wanted a change (very few!) was the satisfaction of having a collaborator in telling this story.
